I can believe it and many have said the same of Italy. The fact is they were both there because they were the last two standing. They played winning football at the crucial times. They had the best midfielder in the tournament and the best leader in the world in Zizou directing play around the pitch with frightening accuracy. At 34 he carved Brazil up like a professor does his freshmen. His presence on the pitch brought out the best in his players. Brazil didn't play well the whole tournament not just that one match, even so, there was enough talent one on one to stand toe to toe with Zidane and he made their efforts totally ineffective. Love him or hate him, you cannot take away the efforts and performance he lead France to give.

In the first place, who are you?

Okay, back to the footy Q...
The only thing you can say is that France power-up once they knew they could face and take-out Brazil later during the tournament. At first they didn't much care but later on, they saw the chance to get back on Brazil once again and that's exactly what they did. Then Portugal and finally fell against Italy becuz Zidane was red-carded. THE END.

Yea...I believe it. In other occassions, one might say that they are good enough to beat teams like Spain, Portugal, and Brazil, but they did. They played some excellent ball during the WC and earned their spot in the finals, despite how good they are or how good they're "supposed" to be. They earned it, and they did a great job.

Look at the Aussies. They played brilliant, despite how good they "usually" are or how good people think they are. They pulled it together for the tournament and they did outstanding.

I was surprised that France was in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. I predicted that the 2006 World Cup would have been between Brazil and Germany and Germany would have won in their home country. If France would have defeated Italy in the World Cup, it would have been the greatest sporting event in 2006.

Don't think its that hard to understand.

They had a quality back four, quality midfield and Henry leading the line. Its not that hard to contemplate.

Vieira, Makelele and Zidane is a terrifying central midfield.

They were a class team with class players.

If anything, the team that surprised me was England, who went far enough and played a lot of crappy football.

I believe it, here's what I cant beleieve...That Zidane got kicked out of that last game. Okay, I guess it made sense, but still, it would have nice to see him play the full 90:00...ya know?
