It really depends. I have been in the position of being placed through a temp agency and also working at one finding jobs for people. When I worked through one, I had most of them work out great. But in those cases, I knew which position I wanted with them and made sure to tell them which it was. If you go in there with no experience and not knowing what you want, they won't find you anything. But if you do some research, like look at their website and see their openings before you go in, they will have an easier time placing you somewhere. Also, I would advise that you pick a field and stick to it, rather than jumping from medical to construction to clerical (for example). This shows commitment and they will know you are serious. Good luck.

Temporary agencies are great for people that have some skills already and are looking for a career change. I took a temp-to perm job once and then ended up working at that company for 10 years. It was a great learning experience!

Temporary agencies are usually a waste of time because the companies that these temp agencies claim they will set you up with; most of the time the employers do not even know about the temp agencies.

It depends on your experience. If you never worked before , then the chances are slim. However, if you have some experience preferably 6 months, they will "find" it, but it takes time. I say register for some of them and look at their website for the temp agency you are interested in registering. If that staffing agency never seem to have that particular position in one of their other branches, then the chances are that they won't staff at your local branch. Some of them do post fake jobs, like AppleOne. don't bother with that one. They never seem to call anybody with anything. I say continue looking and do call for availability once a week. Something is bound to happen. Good luck.

Depending on your talents and skills base, they are quite good.
I worked for a temp agency for more than 10 years and never had a problem. Oh now there are times when the jobs may be scarce and you have to be ready to fill in with income elsewhere.
