Most of the hispanic "immigrants" I know, write and spell better than you do - and English isn't even their first language. With or without a spell checker dude...

Yes, latinos certainly suffer more employment discrimination than anglos - and are often instantly branded as lower income, uneducated, or suspicious folks, simply on account of their first language and "ethnic" appearance. My friend, an attorney, came into an expensive store with me, wearing jeans and a t-shirt, as I was.

Guess which one of us got waited on first?

Guess which one got followed around the store as though he were going to steal something?

I get followed around in stores so much I don't even care anymore, LOL!
When I was laid off a few years ago from my first job out of college, I only got one interview in 5 months! Like Rita's husband, my name is also very Hispanic.
One of my interests are in science, so I often buy books by Carl Sagan and Theoni Pappas (mathematician) --- the cashier's confused expressions are hard to describe in words.

So, only white Americans can be bigots?

I think that's an awfully racist comment. I've met racists of every race, creed, color, and both sexes. It's people like you that cause more racism in our society because you think it's ok for some groups to have special perks and privileges, but not others. Isn't that the basic definition of racism?

I'm white and my husband is Mexican. When we moved to Texas from California we got our first taste of discrimination. Now this was in Northern Texas...we have since moved to Austin and have had Zero problems here. Basically he couldn't get hired to save his life in North TX. He's 35 with16 years of upper management experience, bilingual, and was required by his former employer to earn 6 million a year in sales...but made them 7 million in 9 months. You'd think he'd have no problem...but his name is VERY Mexican. And he only got 1 call back out of 35+ positions he applied for. So we moved. And miraculously....he was instantly hired making more than he was in Cali.

hating anybody involves a certain amount of ignorance - and trust me - ignorance is not particular to any ethnicity.
