Go to the doctor because this definitely sounds like thrush, and unless you get it treated, it will stay, and could get worse!
They will prescribe medication that will have to be rubbed/swabbed on tongue several times a day.
Make sure you boil all of your babies bottles, nipples etc.
Make sure you clean all their toys with super hot water and mild soap, rinse well.
Thrush is a tricky thing to get rid of.
My daughter had it four times before she was 6 months old, and we finally had to get a stronger med from the doc to get rid of it!
Best of luck!

It doesn't matter if the baby doesn't have a diaper rash or yeast infection down there!
Thrush is a yeast infection of the mouth, mostly occurring on the tongue. Thrush is caused by foreign bacteria (by foreign I mean new to the baby) from unsterilized nipples, new toys, spoons and forks and maybe just from the new foods ( Is she feeding her foods that are more acidic and so on). At this point however, baby is old enough to not have to sterilize things anymore, be sure she washes everything in warm to hot soapy water (especially before the first use) and rinses it with the hottest water she can handle. If she knows her water is not of good quality, then yes, she maybe should still sterilize.
If the baby continues to be untreated for the thrush, she will develop a diaper rash. Tell your friend to take her to her doctor and get a simple antibiotic. It usually clears within days.
Good Luck

I thought thrush was from putting things in the mouth that are dirty that have germs on it. It is not necessarily the same as a yeast infection as far as I know. If the baby is having a hard time drinking the bottle I would take her to the Dr and let him look at her mouth to treat the infection if it is thrush. I doubt eating solid foods has anything to do with this.
Good Luck.

Thrush is a yeat infection of the mouth. She does not necessarily have to have a vaginal yeast infection or a diaper rash to get thrush. There are many things that can cause it and it is very common in babies. Your friend should bring her child in to the doctor as soon as possible to get this treated. If left for too long the infection can get worse and cause more serious problems.

Thrush is a yeast infection. But it can start in a babies mouth. My son didn't have diaper rash or anything either and he got it once. I would take her to the doctor and get an anti-fungal to clear it up. It will usually just get worse until she is on one. It makes their little mouths so sore that they don't want to eat or drink. It is a really mild med and she will be so much happier in a day.

Yes the baby actually gets it most of the time from the mother having a yest infection while giveing birth to the child. My son had it as well because I had a yest infection while delivering him (I didn't know I had one since it had just started) and it is VERY VERY contagets to children under the age of 2 which is odd and they don't know why after that they don't get it. But since it is a 7 month old I would ask and find out if it has been in contact with any other infents that may not know they had it.

Not solids... Could be from pacifier use, bottles, sticking hands and fingers and such in mouth... It's pretty common, and YES they can get it without any symptoms in the privates... As thrush IS a yeast infection of the mouth, and sometimes of the breastfeeding mother's nipples/breasts.

Solid food induction does not cause thrush. My son got thrush last year...his doctor said that he had put something dirty in his mouth. Also, other kids who have it can pass it along. It is contagious to children.
