Bernard Lewis: Iran in apocalyptic mood

Mutually assured destruction is incentive, not deterrence, for Tehran, renowned scholar says
Yaakov Lappin

Outdated Cold war concepts, such as mutually assured destruction (M.A.D) are irrelevant when it comes to Iran , because the Iranian president and his circle see such a scenario "as an incentive, not a deterrent," renowned scholar Bernard Lewis said during a lecture Monday evening at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Addressing a packed hall, Lewis spoke after a screening of the film 'Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West' .

"Ahmadinejad and his group clearly believe, and I don't doubt the sincerity of their belief, that we are now entering an apocalyptic age, which will result in the triumph of their messianic figure," Lewis said, referring to the twelfth Imam, Mahdi...

I think that there will be a lot of rhetoric and discussion yes, but that it is all a smokescreen to keep the human race from the truth.

No one knows who to believe. The press propagandizes things depending upon where you live and what your nation has taught you to believe is right, wrong, and history as well.

There is an expression we heard when we were trying to deal with the deforestation of our island awhile back that comes to mind. "Talk and log". This meant while we all talked and held "meaningful dialogue" (or not), the logging still went on and the forest were still decimated. This is more of the same.

Dr. Lewis sounds as if he is doing his best to avoid the religious blame game and I am pleased to see AT LAST someone speak of the Islamic view of terrorism. But he could have gone a tad farther. To be honest I had not heard of this apocalyptic mindset being so prevalent before and I will definitely investigate it personally.

It does not help that as we write and talk, military might is going right along with the desired scenario and increasing their might in that area of the world.

Remember this, no matter who runs a nation on this planet, he has someone behind him. They all represent the interest of one specialized group or another. Ultimately they all answer to the same cabal of international thugs, the Illuminati.

Ahmadinejad, like Hitler, is an obscure figure who was raised to power by an unseen hand. We don't have real political (or cultural) leaders, just Illuminati pawns.

Hmmm. Then there is this: "Ensuring lasting peace for all mankind based on justice and spirituality is the goal of the Iranian government and nation. We believe that what the present world needs is reason, ethics, justice and spirituality and not biological, chemical and atomic weapons or arsenals. This is the very path which the great Iranian nation is treading.» --Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, 2006-01-17.

"Iran is scheduled to be assimilated by The Illuminati Corporation. However, sources have long been speculating that Iran may already be owned by them through their holding company Bilderberg Group."

I had dinner last night with a friend who has just returned from 4 months visiting his family in Pakistan. The Moslem world is not being told any of this. The press there paints him as a good man and he said that "No one worries about these things."

Makes my point, the media "educates" us to its own ends.

Bernard Lewis: Muslims 'about to take over Europe'
Last night when I debated Dinesh D'Souza for what I hope is just the first time, he kept invoking Bernard Lewis. I would make a point about Islamic teaching or the jihad ideology, and he would respond by talking about Bernard Lewis. It wasn't so much an Argument From Authority as an Argument From Bernard Lewis. Now, we have taken issue with Bernard Lewis in the past, and will not hesitate to do so in the future if we think it necessary; we do not believe, as some apparently do, that being the leading and justly renowned authority in a field confers infallibility. Nevertheless, at the same time it remains true that my areas of agreement with Lewis are much larger than any areas of disagreement I may have with him, and D'Souza's attempt to portray me as the Anti-Lewis founders on any actual examination of what I have written (an examination D'Souza has clearly not made).

Anyway, Lewis has said this before, and he was right then, and he is right now. By D'Souza's thesis, these Muslims are enraged by the cultural Left, and have thus been radicalized.

And as Andrew Bostom points out to me, Bat Ye'or saw all this in 1994, when she said: "I do not see serious signs of a Europeanization of Islam anywhere, a move that would be expressed in a relativization of religion, a self-critical view of the history of Islamic imperialism...we are light years away from such a development...On the contrary, I think that we are participating in the Islamization of Europe, reflected both in daily occurrences and in our way of thinking...All the racist fanaticism that permeates the Arab countries and Iran has been manifested in Europe in recent years..." Lewis was light years away from saying anything like this at that time, but it is good to see that he is catching up.

"Muslims 'about to take over Europe,'" by David Machlis and Tovah Lazaroff in the Jerusalem Post, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:

Islam could soon be the dominant force in a Europe which, in the name of political correctness, has abdicated the battle for cultural and religious control, Prof. Bernard Lewis, the world-renowned Middle Eastern and Islamic scholar, said on Sunday.

Looks like Iran is going to control the world!

Ironic since the CIA overthrew an elected government in Iran with the use of terrorism and installed the Shaw of Iran!

Iran couldn't even beat Iraq!

Why all the scare tactics? They are all bogus!

yes - its in the zionists interests to create a pretext to attack iran and destroy the reactors there. Iran is the only muslim country to develop nukes along with pakistan. Iran has not been taken over by the west and so a nuclear powered iran is a threat to western interests. The jews want to keep everyone down in the middle east including the iranians - look what they do to the palestinians who can at best throw a few rocks or do a suicide bombing. The article is a zionist creation for a pretext to attack iran - all fabricated - the iranians want to live like anyone else - they just dont want to live under the boot of a jew or american - (a reasonable desire)

Well to get to a position of power you need a certain kind of ego, one that generally wants to continue not one that is religiouslly motivated. I doubt that Ahmadinejad has a death wish and wants to see every one he loves die.
Ahmadinejad is not the most powerful person in Iran, that would be the Supreme Leader Khamene'i, and he has a much more pragmatic approach.

If that crazy bastard were able to set off a single nuclear explosion in the United States, I don't think his country or he would be around long enough to see the full effects and certainly not the apocalypse. His whole country would be turned to glass. And most of the people of the world would not shed a tear for his departure from this world. Thanks and have a nice day.
