I have been on birth control for three weeks. On Saturday, my boyfriend and I had sex with a condom. He ejaculated into the condom, but when he pulled out, it slipped and I believe some semen landed around my vaginal area. Even though I am on the pill, I still cant help but worry. It's still within the 72-hour period - should I be taking that emergency pill? Is it safe to take even when you are on Birth Control pill also?

Thanks for all the responses! I called my doctor and gave her all the info. Because of where I am in my cycle (about 2 days before my next period) she did not think the Emergency pill was necessary. I hope she's right!

The best thing to do is call your doctor or OB-GYN. I believe that you can take an extra dose of your birth control pill as a supplement for "Plan B". Again, I am not a doctor and this has not happened to me, so I would consult a physician.

If you decide to get Plan B (which I highly recommend if you are nervous about a broken condom), then ask the pharmicist if it will interfere with your birth control pill. And until then, make sure you use a back-up method with your boyfriend.

first of all, good job on using the pill and the condoms. however, since you have only been on the pill for 3 weeks, there is still a chance of pregnancy. as far as i know you can still take the morning after pill for emergency contraception because it is just a large dose of regular bc pills. it wouldn't hurt to take it. call your pharmacy if you are 18 or older or go to planned parenthood.

If you started your birth control during your period then you were covered after the first seven days, and don't need to take an emergency contraceptive as well.
