I've only had a few babysitting, elderly people catering, and ticket master gigs back in junior high and first years of high school that did not last more than a month each, so I cannot put that on my resume. My career couselor representative of Everest college is having a hard time finding a job for me that suits my degree it seems. It's been months that she's had my resume. Either there are jobs that require just a high school diploma with some work experience of 1 plus years or a bachelor's and up with work experience and only a few match but they're either taken or too far off. I am in the middle (with associate's) with no work experience and just volunteer experience. Should I just start back at high school level jobs with no work experience even after the major cost of the college courses? Anyone know what will work?

Look for a temporary employment agency in your area, they can often find a variety of employment opportunties. Even though those may last only a few days, you can put on your resume that you were employed by Kelly Temps for the duration, as opposed to listing each little temporary job.

And some of those "temp" jobs are temporary-to-hire, so it's not a bad way to start out.

Call up a local staffing agency. I was in the same boat as you. I had no experience and all the staffing agencies send me is filing. so, maybe that they have filing. Now I have 6 months of work experience and still not getting the calls. Who knows what will happen in the future? So, I would say volunteer to gain some work experience and call around to see if they ever staff filing. good luck.

You have to be flexible when finding your first "real" job. You'll have to prove your worth like everyone else - even those with bachelors degrees.

Take a low-level job and work your way up. That's the way that most people do it.

Good question.

It sounds like you need an excellent game plan.

Your career counselor representative may be lacking
the time to focus on your job search It has been months that she's had your resume.

Have you?
evaluated your career direction...
perfected resume skills...
networking skills...
learned effective telephone scripting...
have references...

Your career counselor representative has
helped you develop these skills, hasn't she?

Internships can qualify as work experience, and get you some references to vouch for you.
