This is not a big deal but I decided to come on here just to find out what the general public has to say on this. Ok. I find it annoying that the man tries to control whether the woman can have a drug-free birth or not. (it seems like it's all or mostly on what "he" believes more-so than what she wants or needs). Shouldn't the birthing decisions be left to the woman and her doctor? I mean. common ! I know our men do so much for us or try anyways, but they don't realize or don't care about what we want when it comes to certain things. Hello! Maybe we are in pain? We generally carry a baby for 9 months (everybody knows that) and go through many obstacles to carry out those requests for ourselves and our partner. Anyways, I'm not trying to offend anyone. I just want to know how you all feel about this.

I feel its up to the woman and the doctor. but the man and woman should discuss the options with their doctor and make the decision together. I personally say go for the pain killers I mean, why subject your self to that extreme pain when you don't have to?
Oh and to the person that thought this question was inspired by a TV movie.. TLC stands for "The Learning Channel" and their show " A baby story" is pretty much a documentary on a family and their journey through pregnancy and the child's first few years of life.

I agree, it's up to the woman. I think a loving couple will want to discuss it together, in the same way they will discuss the man's health issues together, but the decision should be up to the woman, and the man should make it easy to make that decision by never saying anything that could make her feel that such a decision could meet with his disapproval. Sometimes those issues are sensitive, and decisions are not all that easy. To feel pressure from another person only makes it worse.
A husband-wife relaitonship is supposed to be one of love, not one of patronizing control.

I think there needs to be a mutual descsion made between the two partners...I mean it is still there child...and even though studies show it doesn't some ppl for religious reasons or just being scared to hurt the child do not want there child subjected to that. But ultimately its the womans body and is her descison

As a gay man, you know what I really truly don't care about?
Women complaining about pregnancy issues.
In all seriousness isn't this the most ironically bad choice of category to post such a question?

Why do women intentionally get pregnant to keep a man? Why do women get pregnant by one guy but claim it is another guy's kid? Why do women have an advantage in divorce proceedings, even if everything is their fault? See, we can all paint with the Brush of Generalities.
