Does anyone know how Sylar of heroes steals the powers of others?

I don't think they've ever shown exactly how Sylar gets the other heroes powers. Any ideas?

Sylar got the idea after Mohindir's father told him that the brain controls the powers. So he has to remove that part of the brain that contains the powers of the people - though the show never shows whether he eats the brains or just gets them.

I would love to see a showdown of Sylar and Peter

I think that everyone is on the right path. It hasn't been said exactly how, but he cuts their skulls open. It's something to do with their brains. After watching last night's episode I would agree. Sylar said to Mohinder "give me the list so I can sink my teeth in." This might not be exact, but it was something to that effect.

I think there's kind of an unspoken impression that he eats the brains of the people he kills. Too bad that doesn't completely explain it b/c he could be a mimic like Peter and absorb other's power and not realize he is doing it.

He removes the part of their brain that gives them their ability. It's assumed that he then eats it. There was an episode that showed that his power is basically that he could see how things worked. That's how he knows where to find other people's powers.

Their brains are definitely missing once he gets done with them- so he either eats them or absorbs them some way. He can't use the power until he does this.

i think of he makes use of his potential to "be conscious" they way their brains paintings interior an analogous way he used to have the means to tell what replace into incorrect with watch and clock gears. and that's how he duplicates their powers.
