Speak to your doctor, other than that you can try lying on your side with your knees drawn up that should relieve pressure on your tailbone, are you sure you aren't in labor? with a back injury you may not be feeling the signals the same way you did last time. Go to the hospital and yell a lot, that may get you a different doctor to do the initial evaluation.

Wow I actually found someone I can closely relate with, I myself am 40 weeks along, my due date is actually today. I have made a few trips to the hospital myself, with contractions 5 mins apart and dilation at 3 and 60% effaced. Yet I was sent home and told to walk, I too feel like my Drs don't know what they are talking about as I am in extreme pain, I suffer from contractions, stabbing pains in my sides, menstrual like cramping, pressure and I swear my pubic bone is going to snap any day. I have asked to be induced and was told no that it is not time to take that measure yet, which I do not agree with but unfortunately I do not make the decisions although it is my body and my baby that we are talking about. I have tried walking, but it hurts way to much and I am very skeptical about taking Castor oil as I have heard some bad stories about it. I wish I had some answers but I really don't, but know you are not alone here.

I too am 39 weeks pregnant so know how you feel. You're on your way there..60% effaced and 3 cm dilated! I too am so uncomfy...cannot imagine what you are going through with a broken tailbone. YIKES! I have been trying natural induction and nothing seems to work. They might work for you: Sex, walk, eat pineapple, eat spicy foods, raspberry leaf tea, nipple stimulation, massage trigger points 1) rub your web space between thumb and index finger 2) rub near your inner ankle (halfway between ankle and heel) 3) rub three fingers above your inner ankle. If your tailbone is broken, I don't know why the heck your doctor is being so difficult. Tell him/her how you feel. Or you can lie and say you are getting excruciating headaches, dizziness and are seeing spots....I know it's wrong but might work since these are symptoms of preeclampsia-pregnancy induced hypertension...but without an elevation of blood pressure, who knows if he/she would do anything about it. Good luck! Please let me know what works for you since I could use a little nudge too.

I would talk to your doc, since you are almost at the end they may induce you. I have a serious problem with people that want to be induced just b/c they are sick of being prego, but if you are in that much pain and can't handle it your doc should definitely do something to make you more comfortable, especially since the hardest part is yet to come!

FRESH PINEAPPLE !!!!!!! my daughter is 10 days old, born at exactly 39weeks, I had contractions for a day and a half and they started when I started eating fresh pineapple. Some say it gives them heartburn, I didn't suffer from it but I do believe it bought the contractions on. This is also my 2nd baby, 1st daughter 2.5yrs old. I tried the raspberry leaf tea and sex and curry and none worked, I do believe it was the pineapple, I ate 4 fresh pineapples over 2 days and I had my daughter 6lb 8oz at home, the birth was fantastic. good luck xx

Tell them that you are hurting beyond control!! If that doesn't work try walking or just cursing them out so bad that they want to induce you just get you out of there!! LOL Just kidding. Honey bare with it a little longer! I have a good feeling that baby is coming tonight or tomorrow.

Just tell your doc to induce you because you don't want to wait.

I was told if you take black cohosh and blue cohosh which you can buy at a health food store, it will cause contractions to start. (labor) This is what midwives do for their patients.
