You don't need any formal education to become a pharmacy tech. In most states, you do not have to take the certification exam, it's optional. Techs have to do the grunt work in a pharmacy. You do what is called technical pharmacy; the filling of bottles, answering phones, etc.

It is a course, and you need a technical school certification to be a pharmacy technician. It is also very important to know how to spell. I am not trying to be mean, you will need to work on your spelling as there is a lot of medical terminology and medication names. You also need to be good in math.

You have to pass a licensing test administered by the state. They have courses that review the material to prepare you, or you can just get the material and study. You don't need an degree to take the test.
