From my understanding, there is no way to keep a period short. Having your menstrual cycle is just a part of life. Some people are blessed to have their period for only a couple of days but some have to have it as long as seven days or longer. Mine last for at least 5 days. AT LEAST! I've overheard other females say that their OBGYN put them on another brand of birth control pills to help control their period. THank god I haven't had that problem. I'm not on anything and my period still lasts the same amount of days...it just comes on a lil earlier than usual but I expected that. In my opinion, if you are that concerned about your cycle, call your doctor.

You don't... Different people have different length periods, period (no pun intentded). It might get shorter with time, my periods are not as long nor as heavy now that I'm in my 30s. Birth control pills help you have regular periods (i.e., you will be able to predict the exact day, sometimes the exact time, when it's going to start) - however, it has no bearing on the length of the period itself.

Seven days is a normal cycle, and you only went over one.. That's good. Your body is going to take time to "sort" itself out, and get in a pattern. You can not just keep a period short. Some people are lucky enough to only have it for three days, while others go five, and most of us seven. It's a part of life hunny.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do without medication to shorten your periods. They will last as long as they want to. Over time, your cycle will get more regulated, and more than likely get down to about 5 days. Take your vitamins, exercise regularly, eat right and just deal with it. Sorry.

Chill! You only started 2mths ago, your body is going to take a while into settling into a routine. For some people 8days is the normal, for others its not. In a few months time it will probably be more settled and have possibly reduced down to 4days or something.

you have only just started your period and it will take a few months for them to settle down to a normal pattern. once this happens they may only last about 4-5 days. give it time before you start thinking about taking medication.

some women have it for two days others for 10 days. You can't tell your period how long to last. But taking birthcontrol only allows a couple of days for the period to last.

I hate to say this but birth control regulates your period. This happened to me in junior high and I did not know what kind of pills the doctor have gave me, but they helped shorten my period. I was not sexually active at the time nor was that even on my mind. You should talk to a gynecologist about your situation.

If you've only had 2 periods then your body is still settling down.Give it time & see if things improve before looking for solutions!

Oh my!!! You have an 8 days period? It should be less than seven days. I would advise you to see a gynecologist.
A condition named: Hypermenorrhea (excessive menses) my cause Anemia eventually. You are 14 years, it may correct itself eventually, without any problems. I got my period at the age of ten years!!! Go to a Gyn he will correct the situation.
