For my first prenatal visit?

No, but it would be wise to get a medical history from him before you go if he can't go with you. The doctors will want to know things like his blood type and family medical history to help avoid potential problems with the baby.

But it's great to have him there for moral support. DH went with me to my first visit and ultrasound visits.

It would be good if he was there. It's really nice to have someone with you when you go to the doctor's office. But he doesn't HAVE to be. See if he wants to come with you so he has an idea of what you are going to be going through the next few months. My husband was at every appointment but one and that was because he was out of town. I would want him at the appointments for our next pregnancy, at least as many as he can. It makes all the difference. It makes them feel involved in the pregnancy. Good luck and congratulations!

my bf went to the first visit with me, and all they did was take blood to do testing. and check vital signs and weight.....although they do ask a few questions about family backgrounds....like if anyone has ever had down syndrom or spina bifeda... etc.... then got me to come back a week later for the pap smear, so it was kind of a waste of taking the day off for.... i like going to the doctor by myself!

It depends on your preffernce. at the first appointment they generally do medical history, blood work, and sometimes even the dreaded pelvic.. I am 36 weeks, and my husband has only gone to my ultrasound, I think he is saving his energy for the big day.. but whatever works for you and your husband is great.. good luck!

Sometimes they do a quick ultrasound because it is too early to see the heartbeat. I would say yes, it could be fun and he would feel like he is a part of the pregnancy.

No, as long as you know his family history, because they will ask you questions about that. But you'll probably want him to be at your first ultrasound, so you both can see the baby together.

It is really not necessary, just make sure he comes along for the ultrasounds and baby's heart beat!

not unless you want him there. It's general just questions & maybe an internal, depending on when yours was. If you're far enough along MAYBE a scan. but probably not.

No he doesn't need to be there. You might like him to be there for support though.
