I have been a sufferer of anxiety and panic attacks. I used to be extremely paranoid during a panic attack. I researched this topic in order to deal with my anxiety problem. Therapy and prescription drugs are customary solutions for this problem.
Since therapy is expensive, I took a prescription drug. This was really good and made me feel joyful and relaxed. After sometime I felt that I was becoming dependent on the medicine so I started looking for some alternative treatment.
Hypnois is one recommendation for anxiety relief. I used a natural or herbal remedy (PureCalm) to deal with my anxiety problem. In the beginning I was a little skeptical but I got amazing results.
The following source has some good information on anxiety and its natural or herbal treatment...Good Luck!!

This is going to sound really silly, but nothing calms me when I'm oober stressed like Natural Brew root beer (doesn't have caffine). I guess it's mix of spices in it and the fact that it raises my blood sugar. That's another thing, when I realize that I'm irrationally stressed, it's usually because I'm hungry, so don't skip meals. It's also good to always keep some jello (the real stuff, not w/ splenda) or even a jolly rancher, something relatively low cal, around for when I get cranky. By the way, you can get green tea without caffine.

Make sure to check with your doctor before trying an herbal remedy. Even though they may be natural, herbs can still interact with other medications or exacerbate medical conditions. Some of the suggestions so far are good, for example lavender is known to be relaxing when used in aromatherapy.
Cut down on sugar and caffeine, and increase whole grains and healthy sources of protein. Do at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise a day. Check out the book "Potatoes Not Prozac."

Valerian root is helpful, along with drinking green tea (green tea seems to be good for so many things). Lavender is also soothing. The fragrance of vanilla & lavender is very relaxing.
Helping control your breathing (in and out slowly) will help calm you. Alot of anxiety control is diverting your attention (removing or replacing the thought that is causing you anxiety). Thinking peaceful thoughts helps. Take your mind to a place or time where you feel or felt good. Prayer also helps some people.
Good luck, I hope at least some of this helps you.

You could try real peppermint tea and raspberry tea. Both are relaxing. Those are just band-aid remedies though, because you might still need help for the underlying cause of your anxiety. Best bet, take yoga classes and research places that can help you with relaxing and deep breathing exercises. If you can jog, that's also a natural way to get over anxiety because physical activity releases certain chemicals that help. Avoid coffee, regular tea and all sodas because the caffeine in them will make you jumpy.

I suggest Moodlift Complex. It supports feelings of well-being by using a blend of complimentary herbs: St. John's Wort, inositol, Eleutherococcus Senticosus, and green oats. It helps to relieve anxiety, sleep disorders, nervous disorders and promotes relaxation.
Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions.
