before you get mad - just stop and breathe for a second!
think before you speak ( or yell )
i dont know your religion - but i am Catholic - and i find when i read the bible it calms me - and helps to remind me to be a better person.
you must not be that bad - because you actually realize you have a bit of a problem -- good luck changing!

You could start with simple exercises of the brain. Whenever you want to lose your temper and say something not so nice, stop, smile and count to 10 (or more if you have to). Really think before you say something so that you can phrase it in a way that sounds really nice, even if you don't mean it. After awhile this sound become natural and not so difficult. I hear that meditation really helps. Try meditation of positive feelings first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, and after dinner. And it helps if you keep happy positive things around you. (a picture on your desk of something you really like, something on your key ring that is really positive, a positive saying on your bedroom or bathroom mirror). Good luck and God Bless.

You're on your way then. :) Just keep trying to put yourself in others' shoes, thats what works for me. If I am driving and get cut off I imagine that the person just had a bad day or needs to get somewhere very important. If someone is rude to me I try to be extra nice so their day will get better. Meditation helps with feeling relaxed and calm too.
