My girl had bad relationship before me and he was mean to her and played mind games with her and she started cutting herself after they broke up but she loved him still. I love her to death and have had a crush on her since when we were little and I lived next door in 1st grade. I feel she talks too much about her previous relationship and it bugs me. She says things like I had trusted him so much and when I was with him it great sometimes. She tells me I am the nicest guy she has ever met and she loves me, but that was a big thing for her and I'm not sure how to confront her about how it bugs me. Any help?

Just tell her about how it bugs you.

You need to be truthful with her. Her previous boyfriend obviously wasn't and that hurts. She needs to deal with truth. Don't be cruel or mean, just honest. And try to say things in a way that lets her know your feelings not that she's wrong (like "I feel really bad when you talk about him so much" or "It hurts me when we are doing something together and you bring up him". You could also say "I don't know how to respond when you say something about him". She may not realize she's doing this and may stop to think before bringing him up so frequently. You may also want to talk to a guidance counselor at school about her cutting. If it isn't addressed now it could escalate and she really needs help. It is self-mutiliation because she has self-esteem issues and needs to deal with this while she is young. Good luck to you both and God Bless.
