It's rare, but some people have very short surges, and testing only once a day, they miss the surge. I've had a short surge, and tested in the morning, and seen it, but in the afternoon, had it gone, and the following morning, very clearly gone. Testing twice a day, so long as it's consistent...test in the morning, with at least four hours of urine inside you, at the same time each day, and in the afternoon/evening the same way and you may see your surge.
You don't mention your cycle length though, and it's possible you're testing too early or too late in your cycle to see what's going on. Follow the instructions with the test kit, which usually say to use your shortest cycle of the last six months and to beging testing seventeen days before your period would show up if your cycle were that length, so for example, on day 5 of a 22 day cycle. I've had that happen-I had a shorter than usual cycle one month, and began testing at my usual time, and missed my surge entirely, when I looked back at my chart.
Good luck.

Unlike HCG, LH is not detectable first thing in the morning.
You should be checking in the afternoon, and restrict your fluid intake for about 2 hours before you test.
You should check at the same time everyday for about 5 days.
About the negative results? When was your last period? You should be checking between 11 and 14 days into your cycle. Naturally, results taken before or after those days would be negative.
I do wish you the best of luck!

Some doctors suggest the client test every 12 hours, in case there is a short lapse of peak. So you might thinking about test more often.
Personally I find LH test strip pretty hard to use. Personally I prefer Midstream LH tester. I remember the first time I used it, I almost thought I was anovulatory till on Day 14 LH tester detect the surge. You might think about trying another brand as well.
Good luck

From the website www.peeonastick.com:
I never get a positive OPK. Does this mean I'm not ovulating? No, not necessarily. It can depend on how often you test. Most OPK's say to test once a day, around the same time each day. However, it is possible for your LH to surge and dissipate in less time than that, so testing only once daily may result in missing the surge. (The website goes on to give examples to prove this.) Here is a wonderful website that has helped me:

I recently bought an Ovulation Predictor Kit and I was told NOT to use first morning urine. Unlike HCG this hormone is more detectable later in the day. Try using the strips mid-day and see if this changes the outcome at all.

I would think your urine is more concentrated in the morning so I would not test in the nite.If you are having problems conceiving why don't you try the method where you take your temp in the morning it worked in 4 months the first time and the second time I conceived in 2 months give it a try it cost nothing just using a thermometer and staying in bed also they say the very first thing to do is have him checked to see what his sperm count is.Alcohol as well as hot baths/showers /hot tubs can also decrease his sperm count as well. Good Luck !

You shouldnt have to do this everyday your probably driving yourself crazy. You usually ovulate 7- 10 days after your period. If you take your temp every morning before sitting up etc write it dont when its higher then usual this means your ovulating. Sperm lives usually 2 days try making love the 7th, 9th, and 11th days after your period. When your trying to get pregnant is creates stress, when women limit their stress trying, at work, etc that usually helps them to get pregnant. The test strips are just costing money you only need a thermometer, and you dont have to buy a bbt one either an everyday thermomenter works just as well.

From what I understand, you're supposed to test between 12 and 4 in the afternoon. It takes a few hours for your LH level to be detectable.
Best of luck to you!

Checking every single day? You should only check between Cycle Day 11 to Cycle Day 17, and test in afternoon, around lunch time. Same time every day.
