Whitney is as classy as the Duke team she loves. Tyler "deserved" it? Why? Because he outplayed the crap out of a lousy Duke team?
I give all the blame to Coach K for this one. He was TOTALLY classless. UNC brought the ball across halfcourt, with less than 30 seconds left, and up by ELEVEN. A coach with class would concede the game and back his players off so UNC could sub out the starters and let them get an ovation, while letting some of the scrubs get a couple of minutes of floor time. Instead, Coach jerK has his team fouling and pressing.

Watch the replay closely. Henderson was looking at Hansbrough, not the ball. It was only after his elbow fractured Tyler's nose that he looked away to the ball which was no-where near at the moment of the flagrant foul. The officials got this one right! Now as to what else you said, I disagree. Duke has a great coach that is very respected by Coach Williams. The Duke / Carolina rivalry is one of the greatest in sports. They play tough, just like we do. The refs get some right, some wrong. Duke has had a very different year this year. They were mad and frustrated and I think this contributed to the very flagrant foul. And it's going to cost them big time to not have Henderson in the first round game of the tournament. I really hate Hansbrough got hurt, but his jumping up all bloody and having to be restrained from going at the Duke players is already being called "legendary" and may be just what the Heels needed to galvanize the team. When their game is on, nobody can beat them. Can't wait for the next one!

Coach K is one of the most respected coaches in all of College Basketball, but that's besides the point
Collegiate get all up in an uproar when something like this happens. I mean if they're not wearing floaties then they will start complaining. I know refs make plenty of bad calls, but that's no reason to judge the team on one player's actions. When was the last time Duke played in a regular, unheated match, and "purposely" elbowed someone in the face?

ok, duke is a school that is farthest thing from what you are calling them in the country. dont get me wrong, I DESPISE DUKE, but they have always been the epitomy of sportsmanship and class. yes they often get the calls, yes their timekeeper has cheated before, and there are plenty of reasons to hate Duke, but as bad as I hate them, there isnt a coach with more class than Coach K.
You need to do a little research or be aware of history before you start making claims like this. Yes this was an ugly situation with Henderson's actions, but this is not like Duke at all. Say whatever you want about Duke, but "when they cannot win a game, they try to injure players"..........not correct at all
i hate duke, you hate duke, but at least know what you are talking about before you shoot your mouth off please
and Coach K never complains about officiating or anything for that matter, so calling him a cry baby is completely illegitimate as well. nice try though
HAHA, WHITNEY FIRST SAID HE DESERVED IT AND THEN TOTALLY CONTRADICTED HERSELF BY SAYING IF SOMEONE DID THIS ON PURPOSE SHE WOULD BE PISSED EVEN IF IT WAS HER TEAM.....SO WHICH IS IT? THOSE ARE OPPOSITE ATTITUDES. THIS IS WHY 14 YEAR OLD GIRLS SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO WATCH SPORTS.

I don't think Coach K is well respected anywhere outside of his household and the dook campus.
The remarks that Coach "K"ommerical made after the game was a clear indication that the lack of class starts with the coach. This kid - Henderson - had plenty of class prior to going under Coach K. He is good friends with UNC's Ellington - as they went to high school together. In fact, Henderson considered going to Carolina because of Ellington, and changed his mind when Carolina signed another big recruit, knowing he wouldn't get the playing time he could elsewhere.
The media grabs ahold of a top story like the Duke Lacrosse players and calls out their lack of class...but honestly, this incident was worse than the Lacrosse thing, because those guys may have been wrongfully accused. This incident happened in front of all of us, and the guy still hasnt apologized for it, or acknowledged doing any wrong.
Henderson referred to Hansbrough as "the kid"...?...Henderson should step back a little and realize that Tyler is a year older than him, and 15 years more mature. This "Kid" is on his way to an NBA career - where-as Henderson is going to have to rebuild his family name. Henderson, you should refeer to him as "Sir"!
IMO, the only way that Coach K can come out of this with some dignity is to suspend Henderson for the rest of the year...but I dont think that will ever happen. He doesnt have enough class to do that.
On the other hand. Hansbrough has now went down in history as the toughest Heels player of all time...and maybe the toughest college player of all time. We will be seeing him hop up from the floor for many years to come in highlight reels and media advertising.
dook is getting exactly what it deserves on this board and others on the net. Cheating and cheap play is frowned upon in all sports.

The funny thing is that they will show the replay of Hansbrough getting smacked in the face for the next 20 years.
Very few people will remember who won or lost the game. Just that Hansbrough got popped in the nose, jumped up, spit some blood, cried and get shoved to the locker room.
Congrats Hansbrough! You just went down in Duke-UNC history.

that's like asking who has the extra effective Basketball team Boston college or.... I dunno... Drake. it is not a assessment. Duke is awful and Louisville frequently competes on the mid to larger point of faculty soccer (a minimum of at present) Duke hasn't been solid provided that Spurrier left. That replaced right into a protracted time in the past.

As I understand it, the foul was obviously unintentional. Partisan fans will always attack the other team. I bet you would be surprised to learn that there is a lot of stuff that happens in a basketball game that is illegal or dirty that is not called by the refs.

What the hell? That was unintentional! Besides, Hansbrough deserved it. I'm a Duke fan, but if he did do it on purpose, i wouldve been pissed too cause i dont like teams like that whether theyre my favorite or not, but his body was turned going for the ball. Tell me, if you are trying to block someones shot in midair, but it gets knocked out of their hand a split second before you can do it, would you be able to stop? Its called momentum, genius.

Remember Laetner stomping a Kentucky player? Enough said. Thuggery at its finest.
As to the first answer: I don't think Henderson meant to hit Hansborough in the face, but he was obviously trying to foul him hard. Thus the foul would still have been flagrant and confrontational.
