Ok, first and foremost, my belief in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour is firm. I am a christian. However.....

I am a very musical being, more so than most people I know. I can truly sit, and listen to a song, disect it, and listen to it for hours, singling out each musical part, right down to the drummer or back up singers.

Having said that- the music I love to listen to the MOST is 1940's and 1950's rock. Doo wop, etc.

I was born in 1974, that makes me 33 years old. My parents listened to old country when I was a kid, Kenny Rodgers, Dolly Parton, Geroge Jones, etc.. my parents did not like rock and roll, even "oldies". The closest thing to rock my parents listened to was Barry Manillow. Anyway....

The more I lsten to the old rock and roll, the more at home I feel, almost as if that I belong there...past life regeression perhaps?

It feels so strong, I am beganing to think it means something significant...

Am I crazy? What does this mean? What should I do about it?

It is more than enjoyment.

I enjoy listening to songs of today.. these songs, I feel are me, a part of me.

It is hard to describe the exact feeling, almost like seeing your kid after being away from them for a few days.

That kind of comfort.

This is wonderful music, and I can see why you respond to it. I love it, too. Very cool stuff. Probably you respond to it on a gut-level, it connects with you.

I don't know why you assume there might be some conflict between believing in Christ and enjoying 50s rock and country music. Rock and roll had some of its roots in gospel music, for heaven's sake. Have you listened to Elvis Presley, the original King of rock and roll won a Grammy for his gospel record, and many of his biggest hits had gospel themes, melodies and rhythms.

I so no conflict, my friend...ENJOY!

I've had feelings sort of like that in similar situations. For me, it's almost a euphoric feeling, or a feeling of peace. I think that it has to do with finding somewhere you 'belong'...Part of figuring out who you are, or possibly trying to find some importance in your life. Maybe it sounds silly. I'm certain many people have similar connections to all kinds of things, music included. I wouldn't read too much into it, as I think it's easy to get swept up when you have feelings like that. Just enjoy the feelings you do get from it and enjoy the music. Think a little more about what it means to you.

P.S. You're not crazy. =)

Well since you asked; I don't believe in any religion but I do study all religions it helps me understand the people that do believe. There is a passage in the the Christian Bible that is said to be the words of Christ himself. It goes: What once was shall be again. Some people believe in reincarnation and use this one passage as their proof. I do believe in God and in reincarnation but I just can't follow any ones Religion or the Bible only. All of the religions do have a certain amount of merit to them it is the people that degrade them. I have a personal relationship with my God and no one can interfere with it. I know the truth; yet I can't put it to words it isn't the time nor is it my place to do so.

Why worry about it? If you are enjoying it, so be it. I believe in reincarnation, not that I have remembered any past lives but I DO have proof that satisfies myself. Believing in reincarnation does not mean turning your back on Jesus.

You just like it. It makes you feel good and you genuinely enjoy it. There's nothing wrong with that. You're not crazy, just a music lover.

You like old music, no big deal.

I like music my parents never listened to and wouldn't like anyway. That's just the way it is.

If you're truly concerned, go see a psychologist.
