Which rift?? I can name at least 5 my friend have had over partners and or just B.S. and we have always tried to catch back up. I got a little older and a little wiser, if they were my true friend, nothing could come between us, and I have friends like that. There will not be a 6th time, learned the hard way, when you put more in and get nothing in return, that is not a true friend. A friendly hello will do now, and I will concentrate on the true Friends I know I have.

Don't not go because you are angry. It might be a chance for them to see what they have been missing or for you to really reconnect with someone you cared about. After all, this person put themself out there to get close with you again, they know that they did something wrong and they want to work on it. Even if things don't work out you should still go just so that there won't be anything to regret in the future.

if this friend used to be really close to me then of course i would go, because they are a friend and are obviously trying to make things better. so hear them out, and even if you dont like what they have to say at least you made an effort.

If the only reason we weren't talking was due to losing touch, then yes I would go. If we parted before on bad terms, then it would just depend on what was happening in my life. People enter your life for a reason. Sometimes it's just temporary, sometimes it's forever, and sometimes they keep reappearing at specific times in your life. Go with your gut. Don't second guess yourself.

The key word here is "FRIEND" of course I would listen to them because as a FRIEND there would be no "rift" to begin with.

well yes i would go, but if they won't answer a text send them a written letter they may read it, they may not, but if they don't want to hear you out then they aren't going to give you a chance to explain at all.

Yes you should meet.
Friends may not be near, but they are still there for you when you need them.
