Stay focused. Are you hanging out with your friends more? Are you watching T.V. or playing games more than you were? Look at what you're doing outside of school that may be affecting your work in school. I know from experience that if you let drama into your life through friends or family, that can really mess with your schoolwork. Like I said, try to stay focused so that you do what you are supposed to be doing. Good luck!! And congrats on making the honor roll!!

First of all, it's perfecty normal to slip. But if you catch it in time and find the culprits, you will be back on the right path in no time.
The good news is you WANT good grades. So identify what you are doing that is preventing you from achieving good grades. At your age, there are a lot of possible supsects: TV, phone, friends, lack of ambition, lack of sleep, and last but certainly not least, LOVE.
I've found that for my daughter the following is working nicely: there is no TV watching during weekdays, Mon-Fri. There is no talking on the phone, except in cases of "emergencies" such as someone lost the homework and needs to call a friend. We concentrate on homework and reading during the week and try not to go out or stay late. We leave outings for the weekends.
If you're having trouble with a particular subject, ask the teacher, ask your parents, look for tutoring help.
Hope this helps.
Good grades are hard work. Only geniuses don't have to work at it. Congratulations on identifying the problem and good luck on achieving your goals. Here's to your future A's!

I think it is a matter of understanding what the teacher expects from you .
It took me a whole semester to get it . One thing you can do is :
Take to heart every word in the homework sheet. If she asks for a review with 3 examples , then do exactly that . Don't give her 2 examples.
If you are not sure, before you leave the classroom , ask her if what you think she expects is what she means.
Maybe you are just spinning your wheels. studying the wrong thing.
Do you know any excellent students in your class? Maybe you can ask them to study with you , so you can see how they are approaching the homework and exams.
Teacher for younger students are more forgiving. As you get older , teachers are less forgiving , they are trying to get you ready for college.
Good Luck .

I have always believed that if you have perfect attendance, do all your homework, pay attention in class and participate how could you not make the honor role? if there is something you are not catching on to in your path of studies then immediately bring it to your teacher and it is his/her job to help you understand and move along. junior high is a transition for all kids but maybe you are trying to hard? be happy and enjoy these years of your youth these are the days you will look back on so fondly. Good luck.

I have been on the honor roll every year of school since Kindergarten without studying or getting help....(I'm going to start studying when I get to college though).....I would say get help from friends (friends who know what they are doing in that subject), ask the teacher for help, do EVERYTHING assigned, enroll in a tutoring group at school...

I would suggest studying extra things outside of class, do more than is expected of you. Also don't be afraid to tell your friends that you cant go out with them at the weekends, stay home or go to the library and try to make learning fun. Do practice exams whenever possible as these are the most effective way to prepare for exams.

Ask certain questions such as is this going to be on the test? The other thing any vocab words or things the teacher puts more emphasis on is usually key that it will be on the test. Make yourself a study sheet turn your notes into questions then and write them down and try to remember them. I hope your grades improve.

Take as much notes as you possibly can. When you are studying for a test refer back to your notes! If that doesn't work try study groups or look into a tutoring program!
