I would say no, but this article says yes. I figure that if they're interested, then they'll schedule one. I want to be assertive, but not pushy. This is for a job that I applied for about a year ago, but the girl who got the job got a better job somewhere else, and now they're hiring again. Should I say that I'll contact them to schedule an interview, or say that they should contact me?

I always ended my cover letter with the following sentences. " I look forward to further discussing my qualifications and your expectations. Please contact me at your earliest convenience."

Nothing drives me more nuts than an applicant who calls to follow up on their resume, or assumes they are what we are looking for. I have never, in almost 8 years of doing this, had a person call me that is qualified for the job, and have never hired one of these presumptuous individuals.

I doubt that article was written by someone in HR or even a Hiring Manager. Probably someone in sales, and very few jobs out there are truly sales jobs.

Let the potential employer know your availability to interview, and a number they can reach you at during business hours. If you haven't heard anything in one or two weeks, it's okay to resubmit, just in case, because things fall through the cracks. If you don't hear anything after that drop it.

Make sure your cover letter is bang up. Explain why you love what you are doing, and the accomplishments you have that are pertinent to the position. They know what they are looking for, and you need to trust that.

Resubmit your resume, cover letter, and say, "Please contact me to schedule an interview at your earliest convenience". It doesn't hurt to follow up and show interest in the position you are applying for after you've sent it. That way you will be "fresh" in their minds when they start calling people for interviews. It always worked for me. Good luck!

People will say yes you should include it, but I say no. It seems a little presumptuous to say YOU will contact them for an interview. What if they don't think you are qualified for the job....

It's nice to take advice from the "professionals" but it is always best to follow your first instinct...

Sorry, I couldn't open the link.. But I would say that it is not up to you who they interview. What I have always done was wait a week or so. If after a week, there have been no calls to you, then call them to see if the position was taken yet.

American style literature only lists your references including your phone number and e mail, that's it,.they know to call if you list them all,.which you should anyway,.

good luck,.best wishes,..,
