Yes, about once a month when my mother-in-law and I go out to lunch. We have a regular waitress where we go and she knows not to rush us 'cause my m-i-l leaves her a BIG tip. It seems mom and I never run out of things to talk about and we really enjoy one another's company. So,we don't really CROSS the line of loitering, we have taken up permanent residence on the other side of it.

So much that in the diner we used to go all the time when I was a teenager, they finally came up with a 'Rules of Conduct' card that they laid out on every table...

Yes. A sure sign is when they sweep, turn the lights out and put the chairs up on the tables. ;)

Yeah.
Some old high school friends and I met for lunch one day, and we knew our time was short when the waiters just stared at us.

Sure...late night at Denny's or one of those all night diners...stay for hours just drinking coffee or tea (refills free)
