A zillion is a fictional number, the term doesn't officially exist, the zed indicates the end of the alphabet therefore indicating that there must be a villion, yillion etc so that zillion must be the biggest number there is. The largest real number in common usage is a trillion after that, scientist start using powers, such as 239 with a little (I can't do it on here) 39 at the top right of the number, this means 239 to the power of 39, which I think is 239 multiplied by itself 39 times, which is a really big number.

Have not checked it out properly, but believe zillion [not zillian] is the next big number up from trillion - million, billion, trillion and then zillion.

By the way, if a man started counting from one at the moment of his birth, he would die before he uttered the word million.

Think of it like this. By the time a person got to such as, fifty five thousand, two hundred and thirty four - they would be speaking whole sentences. No one ever believes what I have explained but it is nevertheless true.
Don't forget, you've still got to say, fifty five thousand, two hundred and thirty five - etc. Looong way to go.

The word zillion does not refer to any specific mathematical quantity. It can be used in the following ways:

1. Conway and Guy[1] have used zillion to refer to any number name (such as million, billion, trillion, and so on) ending in illion. Many others, internationally, approve this use.[2]

2. In SymbianOS slang, a hexadecimal number with seven zeroes is a zillion. For example, 0xF0000000 is "F zillion".

3. Like the words bazillion, jillion, and so on, the term zillion is sometimes used as a fictitious name for an indefinite large number.
* Musician Stevie Wonder uses the term "zillion" in the title of his popular song "Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away".
* In the movie Monkey Business (1952), Dr. Barnaby Fulton (played by Cary Grant), returned to childhood by an elixir of youth, is asked a price for his formula and replies "A zillion dollars! A million trillion!"
* In 1985, ABC released the album How to Be a...Zillionaire!
* In the TV Series DuckTales, Scrooge McDuck uses the word Zillions to descibe his wealth in the episode Merit Time Adventure.

4. Zillion the 1987 Japanese anime series.

5. Zillion: Burning Night the 1988 OVA.

6. Zillion the first video game based on the anime series on Sega Master System.

7. Zillion II the sequel video game also based on the anime series.

8. Zillion is a European Technology Company based in Switzerland.

9. Zillions was a children's magazine published by Consumer Reports. [1]

By analogy to the names billion, trillion, and so forth for large powers of ten, words such as zillion[1] and bazillion[2] are often used as fictitious names for an unspecified, large number of indefinite size, or as part of a large, indefinite measurement. These words are often used in hyperbole. The size is dependent upon the context to which it is used, but can typically be considered large enough to be unfathomable by the average human mind.
