I have no idea how to do this and need some help on where to find materials and instructions on how to put it together. If anyone has any helpful websites that I could go to for help I would appreciate it.

Why not make a trebuchet? I have found plans for a tabletop model on google. Also if you need some inspiration look at trebuchet on you tube-Awesome!

How realistic does it need to be?
If it doesnt need to be really realistic, you can do it while shopping at WalMart.
Get a 4-6inch foam ball, several dowels that will go through and stick out about an inch on each end, plus something to make a cone to cover those ends.
Using a thick dowel, create the ball and handle.
Insert the rest of the dowels through, spread them out fairly evenly
Cover the ends with the cones
Spray paint grey/silver/black/whatever

I love styrofoam. Get one of those styrofoam balls, and glue papier mache points to it. Then paint the whole thing with silver and black spray paint. If you add a plastic chain, also painted, it will look great!
