eBay is a great place! As long as you get in contact with the good sellers.
Look out for POWER SELLERS - who are likely to be the best - they have sold LOADS and check the FEEDBACK PERCENTAGE. If you click the feedback, and see lots of "reply-to's" of feedback, it's a cheating member to try and get high marks.... hard to explain...
Anyway, make sure you have good communication with your Seller - email or phone is great! Good communication is KEY!

I trust ebay, i bought lots of nice books, perfumes and things from there at half price. I bought some Lenox vases very cheap for my aunt there, they were great, in perfect condition. I never had a bad experience. Try not to buy like clothes, sunglasses, because they might not fit you. Always see the return policy, to make sure that you can return the thing back if something.
When shopping on Ebay, see the seller's feedback if you are not sure. If he has all positive, the transaction should be fine.
You can always ask the seller a question.
Good luck!

ttfan,
i trust ebay. i just don't trust the sellers!
that is why i ALWAYS pay through PAYPAL funded with a CREDIT CARD!
then IF something goes wrong, i can ALWAYS get my money back.
i have the option of filing for a CHARGEBACK through my CC provider.
BTW, i have never been scammed on ebay.
i only buy from sellers with at least a 98.6% feedback.
i ALWAYS check the feedback to make sure the sellers have actually SOLD items and not just PURCHASED penny items and recipes to get feedback.
i also make sure that they haven't sold just small low priced items when they are now selling big ticket items. this is a sign of a HIJACKED ACCOUNT!
i NEVER buy from ASIAN sellers as most of the stuff is FAKE or non existent.
i read the Trust and Safety baord every day to learn of the new scams.

ebay is SAFE if you know how to protect yourself and you pay wisely.

i have been selling on ebay for 4 years now, but it is not as lucrative as it was and ebay keep changing the rules, their fees, the way they list and have new restrictions. Also traffic to my shop and listings has diminished by 70% in the last few months since their changes. Have a look at the community board on ebay to see comments by buyers and sellers!!

I've used E-Bay for years and Have (touch wood) never had any problems. Just ensure that you check out a sellers feedback CAREFULLY before you consider purchasing from them. Read comments from previous buyers etc. It's easy to get ripped off, but if you are careful and thorough you can have a fairly hassle free experience.

as long as you buy from or sell to someone with a high rating and you ALWAYS use paypal, you should be fine. by using paypal, you ensure that ebay will have your back and help you out with any complications. where your problems begin is if you let a person talk you into directly dealing with them. this makes ebay unaccountable for the transaction and you may experience unnecessary complications.
