what are the chances of getting pregnant without insertion ?

If you're not ovulating, very slim. If you *are* ovulating, probably higher than you want them to be. If semen gets anywhere near the vagina, the fertile mucous in the vagina can allow the sperm the perfect "channel" to swim into and through the vagina, through the cervix and uterus, to the fallopian tubes and awaiting ovum. And voile, you could be pregnant. Not common, but possible.

Well, as long as the sperm enters the vagina there is a definite possibility. I don't see why it couldn't happen. Many lesbian couples are successful in getting pregnant and i HIGHLY doubt there was penetration or insertion in that kind of case. So keep your hopes at a reasonable standard. Most couples don't get pregnant until around the one year to the 18 month mark.
