Yes, she's dead. No, she's not going to stay dead. Sadly I cannot confirm anything beyond that. Search for 'battlestar galactica gag reel season 3' on youtube and pick the long video.
I suspect she'll be back for the season finale.

Starbuck was my favorite character, with Colonel Tigh as a close second. I can't believe that we've had to watch three seasons of Kara Thrace and Her Special Destiny and then they just kill her off?!? What is that? It just doesn't make sense for Starbuck to be a cylon, so bringing her back that way will just make her a cliche. There's chatter out there in the 'verse from people speculating about the Ship of Lights angle from the old Battlestar Galactica. The buzz is that Starbuck may come back as something else. That might be cool.

She's better than dead... She's "in the place between life and death" that Leoban and the Xena Cylon both talked about...
Where the Xena cylon finally went to see the final 5 cylons... and recognized one and said "I'm so sorry i had no idea"... Sorry for what? For torturing you? For taking your ovaries?
We won't find out until sometime next season but I'm betting we next see Kara as something spiritual, something beyond Cylon or Man, one of the 5 Cylons... a messenger from the 13th colony...
She was drawn to eject in the eye for a reason... Her great destiny...

Starbuck could be one of the final 5 cylon models that nobody has seen yet. They would not kill off such a popular character like they did so they will be bringing her back in some way, either she survived the explosion somehow or she will be resurrected in a new body.

My husband pointed out to me last night that when she was reviving from being unconscious that her hand was on the ejection lever, so she could have ejected right before her ship exploded. Perhaps the cylon raider picked her up and she's on one of the cylon base ships with Leoban. I don't think she's dead or that she's a cylon. I think that Leoban is manipulating her to get information about the way to Earth that perhaps she is unaware of. I will be watching very closely from now on!

I'd say she's dead...for now.
She flew into the eye of Jupiter and I can't beleive, as much as they hyped it this season, that her destiny was just to commit suicide.
I've got to think there is something more there, but exactly what will most likely only be revealed over time as a long running plot point that gets revealed eventually, but not for a while -
so dead for now - till they bring her back.

omg i thought that too. I cant see how they would bring her back without making her a cylon or something. i was sooooo pissed they did that she was one of my favorites her and Colonel Thai. What are they thinking they still have a fourth season now. I cant take it. God I love Battlestar Galacia!!!!!
