They are the body who regulate schools...so schools have to pass ofsted inspections etc, or they get closed down. Schools are inspected every 4-5 years, and it's those reports which make us parents decided which school is good, and which is not.

UK Governement organisation responsible for 'quality assurance' within UK education system. I.e. inspections and reports, league tables etc.

The govt. organisation that inspects nurseries, schools, colleges etc. If you dont pass their inspection you have to bring your school up to their standards.
