My mom always told me that people pick on others cause they're insecure. Is this why people pick on gays?

And they call us gays sick and wrong? Don't you rather think, someone who picks on other people (gays in this case) are sick and wrong?

Insecurity may have some to do with it, and in most cases that is correct. However, when it comes to discrimination against homosexuals and/or bisexuals, I think it has more to do with a few other factors.

For one thing, this isn't something many heterosexual people are used to. People have strange reactions to things that are just different. Some people may just be creeped out by the concept, while others just don't think something so radically different from what they're used to should be considered anywhere near "normal", but it probably has a lot to do with not being comfortable with the subject.

Another reason is, unfortunately, persuasion. I know "straight" people who constantly insult gays/lesbians/bisexuals because they feel it's wrong and want the world to know it. A poor way of doing so to be sure, but nonetheless that seems to be how some people think.

I'm a Christian and I think people pick on others such as gays because they are uneducated. Very, very uneducated. And your mom is right, sometimes because they are insecure. Your mom must be a very kind person, because it seems that she gives the 'benefit of the doubt'. I'm glad that people didn't pick on me when I used to 'shack up', because for Christians that is wrong also.

I think your mom's a very wise woman. People who are secure with themselves, not only with their sexuality but in general, do not pick on others. People that pick on and tease others are wimps who only do it to make themselves feel better in some sick way. I fire at these losers with wit and intelligence and always defeat them.

People say terrible things about gay people because they are mean and cruel. I don't buy into the being insecure about their sexuality thing....it's just plain being mean to others!

in my view, i do no longer evaluate myself undesirable for the species in simple terms as a results of fact I even have never had infants. i'm able to make a contribution in different techniques. i'm advantageous the comparable is real of gays. as properly, we are oppressed with the help of overpopulation recently besides, so we non-breeders arguably help the species, no longer harm it. yet i could desire to assert that an eighty-twelve months-previous could have a puzzling time taking good care of 12 cats ideal. no longer solid for the tom cat species; no longer proper to the human species.

That is a reason. Another reason is that they are afraid. People tend to be afraid of that which they do not understand. They are so insecure that they can not learn more, and do not want to give those who are different a chance or acceptance.

sometimes but not always hun. It's a shame that people feel the need to discriminate against homosexuals. i guess its to do with lack of understanding really. And i would say that sometimes it is insecurity, maybe their not completely happy with their sexuality but are too afraid to come out so they react angrily due to jealousy, i.e they are the cowards because they can't come out but are envious of those that have.
