Im not sure where to classify this question but im going to ask it anyways. I am 9 weeks pregnant right now, i turn 17 tomorrow, and the age of consent to sex, is 17. Me and my partner, are getting married on thursday, which is two days after i turn 17. He is 22 years old, my mother has known that we are together, and that we are dating. She was allowing it. If we get married, does that mean that he will not be able to get in trouble because i was 16, or does my mother have to be the one to press charges? Please help me out!! I would really appriciate it. Thank you!

Unless your parent presses charges (or child services somehow gets notified) I think you will be scot free.

Probably not a good idea to announce it on Yahoo! though...

Just something to think about.

Good Luck!!

If you mean for statutory rape, the facts are considered as at the time of the offense - so yes, he's still guilty and no, marrying him and turning 17 doesn't change anything. However, once married, you cannot be compelled to give evidence about the crime in a court of law, so that's a good way to get himself off the hook. However, since he is obviously the father of the baby, and since you were obviously pregnant before your 17th birthday, the police will still prosecute and get a conviction.

In most states, the police will prosecute on any complaint regarding sexual abuse of minors - which is what he did to you.

He can't get in trouble cuz you are not showing and believe me it will be a month or so before you start showing and the deed is done. You are married and the cops have better things to do than find out all the info of when you were married and when the baby was conceived. Don't worry.

In many states, 16 is the legal age to consent to sex. So he may not be in any trouble at all. I wish you lots of luck, tho, not the best way to start off a marriage!

I believe your mother would have to press charges for him to get into trouble.
