Sure, why not!
Any excuse for a party;)
Most countries would probably have their major celebrations at 100 years but if you think that's too long to wait then go ahead and celebrate.

Happy 50 years independence to all my Ghanaians. I think that this occasion should be celebrated. I think that it is important to remember this event as it is part of our history, and as a Ghanaian born in Britain I think that it is important to uphold my roots. I would be ignorant if I didn't acknowledge that Ghana has not struggled socially, economically and politically, but I feel this is a time to acknowledge that we as group have struggled and that many good things have come out of Ghana. I think that the amount of money that they have spent on the celebrations is a concern! For one event the government has spent so much money and not prioritised that money needs to be put into health care, education and poverty. But I suppose while the celebration is going on, it is now a time to look forward and reflect on these problems. We may be a poor nation but we defiantly know how to throw a party.

Of course they should celebrate their Independence. Having said that, Africa largely, probably including Ghana, is a giant cesspit. NOTHING good has come out of Africa since Mandela. It is a sinkhole of corruption, disease, dictatorships, and utter hopelessness. The people of Africa, with some exceptions of course, are basically still Tribal. That is their mentality, and their leaders are incapable of doing anything about dragging them up into todays world. It's an impossible dream of course, but ideally, the continent should be taken over and run by the UN, or by a small coalition of Western nations. Not perfect, but much better then it is now.
Obviously that is abhorrent and unthinkable to Africans, but SOMETHING positive need to be done. And quickly, to relieve the suffering of millions of Africans, and welcome them into the community of our world.

yes.I believe it is worth marking, the sense of nationalism flowing in the country at the moment make it worth it.It shouls also be a time for self assessment and self correction, see what we can improve on,as the local proverb goes, slowly slowly, the hen shall manage to drink water.Long live Ghana!
