No. Not at all. If she is comfortable in her own skin, that is all that matters. By going on a fad diet now at 14, she will screw up her metabolism. Not to mention she is still growing and the last thing she wants to do is go on a fad diet to stunt that growth. If she is really worried about weight and won't listen to reason, tell her to work out and eat right, or consult a dietician or doctor. If nothing else her parents can help her develop a proper diet and excercise routine. Just remember moderation. Nothing like two rice cakes a handful of peanuts and a small salad for dinner. As long as the food is balanced (Chicken breast, rice and fresh veggies) and the excercise is in moderation (running or weights) 3-5 times a week, your friend will feel and stay healthy.

I want to say she's at the end of the BMI for normal weight. She could lose about 5-7 lbs. 5-7 lbs can be lost safely, and kept off, by regular exercise and cutting out excess sugar and drinking more water.
More importantly, it really depends on her entire body structure, her own attitude about her body, and is she healthy? If the women in her family are curvy, then no, she doesn't need to lose anything. If she likes the way she is, then no, she doesn't need to lose a thing. If there isn't a history of diabetes or anything other illnesses, then, nope....she doesn't need to lose a pound.

Leave your friend alone--if she is a true friend you will accept her the way she is. She is not mature yet and things could take a drastic change in height and weight. Think about you and let it go.

about nine pounds would be ideal for her to lose. as for the how, by exercising, and eating right, if she isn't eating right as of now. Just don't let her do it by getting an eating disorder.
