In 1961, Mandela became the leader of the ANC's armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe (translated as Spear of the Nation, also abbreviated as MK), which he co-founded. He co-ordinated a sabotage campaign against military and government targets, and made plans for a possible guerrilla war if sabotage failed to end apartheid. A few decades later, MK did indeed wage a guerrilla war against the regime, especially during the 1980s, in which many civilians were killed. Mandela also raised funds for MK abroad, and arranged for paramilitary training, visiting various African governments.

Oh and yeah, killing civilians is not killing the people responsible

Ok Nina i understand but i dont question George Washington because i am not an American and i thought he was just an other average president... as for William Wallace i think he was a hero he stood up to the English when they were destroying and attacking his country, i did not know that is what happened in South Africa

Of course, he's a criminal. With the aid of his commie buddies like Joe Slovo, his cohorts killed thousands of people through guerrilla warfare.

I saw a recent film where he was singing "Kill All The Whites." Is that the action of a peaceful man?

His wife Minnie is even worse. She had a young boy named Stompie necklaced right in front of her,

I suppose he technically could've been considered a criminal because he broke the law of the time. By that definition, though, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were also criminals.

Nelson Mandela was a peace activist. There were people who wanted to kick the white people out of South Africa (and can you really blame them?), but he argued that everyone had to learn to work together for equality.

I think he was a hero.

Whoever told you that the ANC were terrorists lied to you. Criminals killed 100s of innocent people and said that they were trying to liberate South Africa. That gave the ANC a bad reputation. Nelson Mandela was arrested because he was trying to end oppression. Freedom for black people was against the law. If that is what you meant, then he would be a criminal according to the laws of that time in that place.

it all depends on how you look at it.

Nelson Mandela is as much of a terrorist as George Washington.

if you where to take the British side of the story George Washington was part of a terrorist group that fought the government and killed many people.

One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

However, Wikepedia is not a legitimate source. Anyone including you can contribute to it. Professors do not take it as a reference. I doubt high school teachers think so either. Always check the source of your source when you are on line.

I don't know about those organizations that he was supposedly a member of but i do not think he would have gotten a Nobel Prize for Peace had he been responsible for the death of 100s of innocent people. As to whether or not he was criminal, of course he was. In order to effect change sometimes unjust laws must be broken.

Listen you prick, how dare you call the guy a terrorist go and do your research and find out how many innocent black people were killed by those white bastards. Did you know that black people had no f**king rights in their own country, they were not even allowed to vote.
Shut your domb white *** up and tell me what the hell you would do if black people took control of your country and took away all your rights.
You would want to kill their black asses.
And because of his bravery he spent 25years in prison, tell me is that justice when those evil Afrikanos (as they like to call themselves) are allowed to walk freely.

OK i'm sorry i got angry but i dont think you should even have asked this question, i mean you don't question the morality of George washington or william wallace.
You need to realise that nothing is ever as black and white as a wikipedia definiton, and sorry again for using the bad language just got carried away lol!

That is what they were doing maybe not as obviously as the english in scotland but they were still destroying black south africans. Please once you read his autobiography you will get a better picture and become more sympathetic to the him and the ANC.

But if it was never made into a big motion picture you may not have become so understanding, it should n't take Hollywood for people to undestand what is so clearly wrong!
