I'm twelve weeks and 5 days pregnant. Before I was pregnant I was slowly injuring my back at work, due to uncomfortable sitting conditions. Once pregnant my lower back got worst. Even now at home, my back still aches. What can I do? Can I have physical, therapy or message?

you need to get better seating conditions. If your work will not allow it, then go on workman's comp.

Seeing a chiropractor is very important for your lower back to reach its optimal health but you also have to watch what your doing at home. I work for a chiro so I know that adjustments help but there are things you need to do to watch your LB (lower back). First thing is posture, which is one of the most important things to watch for while you are at home. Most people sit with a slouch in the Lower Back so what you can do is scoot your hips as far back in the chair as possible and roll up a small towel and put that at the small of your back which will take some pressure off. Next what you can do is use moist ice and heat. Now if you have muscle pain, its good to use moist heat to relax the muscles but if you experience actual pain and inflammation you need to use ice to decrease the blood flow which will slow down the inflammation. Also if you are driving or sitting for long periods of time you need to get up and take a 5-10 min walk to loosen up the muscles in the back. Try to avoid uphill walking because that will put lots of pressure on the back as well. GOOD LUCK

You can have physical therapy...I would recommend someone who has a specialty in women's health issues or at least someone who specializes in back care. There are certainly limitations to types of treatment you can have with your pregnancy, but PT for back exercises and body mechanics training can be beneficial. I also frequently recommend pregnancy support belts to help unload the pelvis as the pregnancy progresses.

I still went to the chiropractor when I was pregnant. Also ask your dr. if there are any cushions you canm buy for sitting for a long periods of times. Also ask about stretching you can do while being pregnant.

find yourself a good chiropractor, mine is a lady. they have a special section in their adjustment table for pregnant ladies. if you dont get your spine corrected, it will cause you so much pain as you progress in your pregnancy. when your spine is out of alignment, your whole body suffers. and if you are in constant pain, your baby will not be happy either. my chiropractor studied at the palmer institute of chiropractic. i think that is the best school. make sure they take tests of your spine.
good luck..feel better...and congradulations on your new baby..
