I have three expectations for my 2nd grade students.
1. Be responsible for your actions, your materials and your learning.
2. Be respectful to yourself and others with your words and your actions.
3. Always try your best at everything you do in and out of the classroom.

I don't teach elementary, but I always tell me high school students:
You are responsible for you.
I have a six foot foot banner across the top of my board. I point to it any time my students try to point fingers and blame their behavior on someone else.
I also say, "How old are you?" a lot. I take ten years off their age and say, "Then stop acting like you're ___."
My other favorite phrase is something I picked up from my Spanish speakers.
"Menos hablando y mas trabajando" It means less talking, more working. I also ask "Are you working hard or hardly working," but that one is a little lost on my ELD students.

Write in complete sentences. When the question asks you why, you should have because in the answer.

Listen to what I say before you answer. No, I want you to say it in Spanish because that is what I am teaching.
