I am going to be in London for a few days next month, and I'd like to but a few things..such as a "Mind the Gap" t-shirt... what else is a "must-have" souvenier thats not heavy or expensive... not like shotglasses or fridge magnets or anything...and where would I find it?

You'll find all the "mind the gap" merchandise you could ever want at the city's hundreds of souvenir shops. This type of shop is found wherever there are tourists but particularly on Oxford Street and in the Piccadilly/Leicester Square area. You'll find other neat things that are inexpensive and unique at these stores, but usually I find them to be cheaply made and the same at each store. For unique tastes of inexpensive London I would visit some of the outdoor markets such as Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill and Camden Lock Market in Camden. Covent Garden has some unique shopping as well but is a little more expensive than the street markets. Enjoy your trip, London is wonderful!

When I went there a couple years ago, I was really surprised by how cheap some of the stuff was in the souvenir shops. I liked a lot of the keychains (particularly the double-decker bus ones), the postcards, and the red phonebooth pencil sharpeners (my favorite). They have tons of variety, much like you'd see in NYC, and stuff tends to be pretty inexpensive, like just a couple pounds each. I found all of my souvenirs on Oxford St.
Have fun!

Try the Museum of London. They have great, inexpensive posters. I got one for like 4 pounds. You can also buy your souveniers at the duty free shops at the airport terminals; I'd get some chocolates there.

There are ticky tacky little souvenir shops all about town, particularly in the area of Piccadilly. You will also find toy London cabs and double decker busses in these places.

You'll see ... it's just like NYC for that sort of stuff.
