To take the question at face value (I see your point, but I think the question is valid as a question as well), I think that for many heterosexuals, it's not very different from the certain stereotypical man at the typical bar who feels 'entitled' to hit on the woman who has indicated she would not like a partner for the night. Perhaps he thinks she is playing hard to get, perhaps he thinks that being able to seduce this reluctant woman will reaffirm his manhood. Perhaps he even thinks that seducing her is more valid than seducing the woman who is returning his meaningful glances, or feels threatened by the (to him) implied 'other' man, whoever she is seeing that is not him.

For some, it can be something as innocent in intention as a fear that they are no longer special if other people can be different in a a way that they never will be different in (or in other cases, that they yearn to be different in, but are afraid to admit.)

And for some, it is a genuine belief that for some given reason, there is something inherently wrong with any lifestyle not their own, either because it is not their own or because their doctrine of choice specifies certain others as being "more wrong" than others.

(To be fair, it is noted that these explanations refer to, as in the question, those particular heterosexuals whose actions suggest that they are compelled to seduce others into their lifestyle.)

Is that a good start?

Because Americans are, at large, a very ignorant group of people (Yes, I'm an American, but I still believe most people here are dumb). They fear things they don't understand. And if someone is heterosexual, they don't understand how someone could possibly want to be with someone of the same sex. But they don't realize that if someone is homosexual, they may not understand why someone would be with someone of the opposite sex. We just all need to learn to accept everyone regardless of their differences. Differences are what make us unique. If we were all the same, the world would be a very dull place.

Heterosexuals are jealous of our fabulousness. They want to seduce us into their lifestyle so we can be as boring as they are.

I know, how icky is that. Heck, Virginia had to put up billboards reminding straight men that sleeping with underaged girls was criminal. Imagine what sort of thoughts go through the minds of such men that they have to be reminded!

Do you mean like 99.99% of the movies, tv shows, advertisements and magazines?!?

And then they accuse US of "shoving our lifestyle down their throats." I mean really.

I wish they would accept all inborn, natural sexual orientations and stop trying to convert everyone to their "lifestyle."
