That is just a myth. Crane flies (aka mosquito eaters) are for the most part vegetarians. In their larval form some species may eat roots or stems, or small invertebrates in the case of some aquatic species, while many species eat decaying plant matter.

There is a type of fish often called Mosquito eaters, or Mosquito fish. And yes they eat larval mosquitos among other things - making this a popular fish often stocked in ponds.

I really dunno,but there are not nearly as many mosquito eaters around as mosquitos in my little peace of heaven.that is in northern Nnorth Carolina

If you are talking about the thing that looks like a giant, floppy mosquito, it is a crane fly and no, it does not.

The thing that really eats mosquitos are dragon flies!

Yes they do and so do bats. Some bats will eat up to 1000 an hour. it would be a good idea to build a bat house on your property
