Outside of doing anything sneaky, or that would be considered underhanded, I would (and have) make sure that those I work for are less informed than myself.

Strive to involve yourself the decision making process and always have a plan in mind. That is, an idea that you can unfold to your managers or others on the upside of the food chain if the occasion arises. Remember, business is there to make a profit. A whole bunch of owners and president are fanatical about " The return on investment".

Don't restrict yourself to becoming more informed on a specific subject, you may be a little wheel on a bigger machine. Start educating yourself on the highlights of: Management, Project Management, Human Relations and Supervising people.

Don't make the mistake of belittling anyone or anything as it may be the pet peeve of someone above you. And last, be proactive about the company and the type of work you do, speak as if it were your business and you would protect it with your life.

I can't plan your strategy, no one can. At the very least, you need to give the impression (even if you don't feel it) that you love the business and continue to learn as much as you can about it, and you will never give up.

-promotion strategy began before you build your website.
the best strategy is to build your website (it is better some web pages)
- start promote by submit to directories such as yahoo directory,...
- the hard time is to use forum posting, and add articles to your web site and then submit them to articles directories
- this should take some time and it is necessary if you plan to make money
- then start paid advertising:
ezine marketing with solo ads, classifieds ads and sponsads.
- then pay per click advertising.
the free take time and effort but you will create a long term income and you will build stroong foundation.

Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

http://www.kahmer.com
http://www.joeant.com
The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank
with Yahoo / Google / MSN.
Also work on your meta tags. Here is an
article on how they work: http://www.richkahmer.com/meta-tags.html
