maybe this will sounds like something you already know, but why dont you do something that interests you, like take a cooking class, sewing class, yoga, gym classes or volunteer. people over there will be open to making new friends and it wont be in work/school so they will not have "agendas" of any kind. perhaps go on a tour of your city or a nearby city or just take a whole vacation, if thats something you can do. people also will be relaxed and open to new friendships. goodluck!

Do you have interests or hobbies? Maybe you could try meetup.com where you can join a group of people with similar interests. Or you can do the same thing locally. A lot of communities have all kinds of groups (check the newspapers, or community college message board). Or you could even take a class on something that interests you. Just be open and friendly.

I think it would be hard to make new good friends as you get older. I think the best friends are the ones you make while at school, because you "grow" together kinda and you experience much of the same things.

I mean you can make friends anywhere, but those friends that'll put up with you and all that are from youth.

Just my opinion though

well if you work...theres a great place to start...invite some coworkers out for drinks : )
and well if you have hobbies join some groups so you can share time with people who have the same interests as you.

Hope that helps..
