I walked unaided the next morning when I went home. I slept a lot for a few days because the nerve pains were significant when I moved around but I had medications which helped. I live alone and a friend slept over the first night as a safety matter but I did fine.

No! it depends upon on the person,
I'm an active person and I have had back surgery and it took me a month and was barely able to walk around the block. One of my friends who is also active had the same type of surgery he was up and running in two weeks.
it all depends Upon the person....
