'my starred questions' and 'my watchlist'? They both just seem to be holding places for questions, but don't seem to have different functions. Am I doing something wrong?

For one thing, your "star" list is public. If you "star" a question, anybody can look and the question and see that you gave it a star. They can also look up your Answers profile and see what other questions that you have give a "star" too. You can even "unstar" a question that you previously gave a star.

You watchlist can only be seen by you. Maybe you want to watch a question that isn't necessarily worthy of a star. Your watchlist is private.

A starred question is a question that you thought was good. A watchlist question in one you are interested in seeing what other peoples's answers are.
