--Part of it is hormonal....some guys with high testosterone levels are just wired that way, they are very competitive and take any "loss" hard.
--Part of it though is just the numbers game. Rejection hurts because it happens so often. On average, a man seeking dates in an urban setting can expect to succeed in only *one* out of five of his attempts. That means he gets rejected four times first usually. This is similar to the odds of a *lion* getting a successful hunt....but the difference is, when the lion succeeds, it's chow time and it's permanent.
When a guy "succeeds" it is conditional at best. Even after getting past that 80% failure rate he can *still* be rejected at any time for *any* reason, or *none at all*.
As you can imagine, the repeated failure thing gets old really quickly when the odds are that stacked against you. And yes, there are things you can "do" to be luckier. Be young, rich, thin, etc. But these aren't so much things you do as they are things you *luck into*, so again, it's the probability thing.
And as guys get older and become "men", so to speak....the failures add up, and have a cumulative effect. People remember their failures more than their successes. Where if the success really *becomes one*, the guy ends up stopping dating and well....it isn't as cumulative an effect, is it now?
So yeah. It could just be that dating, as we know it, is an awful *LOT* of work for the guy, especially given how low-percentage an endeavor it ends up being.
Just my plug nickel, take it as you will. ^_^ Thanks for your time.

Rejection is ALWAYS personal. Don't tell me women don't feel it just as much as men do.
