Price will vary based on the following factors: (1) whether you are buying/bidding or selling/asking. There's a "spread" between the bid and ask, and dealers make their money on making you meet their "ask" if you want to buy, and giving you their lower bid if you want to sell. (2) the amount you are buying or selling. Tons sell more cheaply than pounds. (3) whether its purity meets a national standard or not (4) whether you're selling raw copper or a finished piece, like tubing or wire. (5) transportation costs from a major warehouse or market.
Make sure the other party is legitimate: copper is very popular right now for theft and fencing the loot. Don't buy potentially stolen goods.
A copper price I watch is at:

This is for dealing in tons of copper ingot, at a high grade of purity, in dollars. As the price moves up and down, expect a delay in price changes at small dealers of a week or two. I also use this site to predict what will happen to the price of unleaded gas at the pump. Did this help?
