I had to do a simlualr assingment like this, but i had to do a speech.
and my topic was... how to do a speech. It was super easy, i just used the rubric my teacher gave to us and used it as the text to my speech. as far as demonstrating it, i used a powerpoint to explain the steps of coming up with a speech, and tips to make those steps better. [ example: Conclusion, should restate your main topic with out repeating what you said before] so you could do how to write an esay.
and hey if you dont' like that do how to make balloon animals! then for your demnstration part bring in enough balloons for the entire class to follow you along in making balloon animals [yes even the teacher] it gets your audience involved so they're not falling asleep.

The classic example of this has always been how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. It is easy to demonstrate, and has even come up as a question in job interviews. :)
