I own an HP C5180 printer and it's the best printer I've ever owned. Ink is cheap, awesome photos (waterproof and fade resistant even), and fast. It does photos and prints, copies, and scans. This printer is getting great reviews all over the internet.

Here's a link that shows what it looks like and some details about it.

If you don't want to copy or scan, look into the HP Photosmart D7160 or the D7360 on HP.com

My opinion.

Best all around for general use - Canon iPixma inkjet series. Been recommending these to everyone. Relatively cheap ink refills (meaning cost is often less than the price of the printer which is rare nowadays), low price, and does decent photo prints. I've had my iPixma 3000 for a 2 years and it still does the job as well as anything out there.

Best home photo printer period - Samsung SPP 2040. There is no comparison in photo quality to traditional printers. The only catch is it requires special dye sublimation ink and paper and isn't designed for normal everyday text and documents (photos only), but it's well worth it if you take lots of pictures and want to put them in an album. When you see the print you can't tell the difference between this and film.

Buy.com actually has it on sale now. Normally over $100.
