I've watched gameshows for years and I laugh at the people on there.

(Please, can you keep the answers positve).

Nothing gross, please.

Because the people on those shows are normal people. They've probably never been on tv. or in front of a large audience before and this is like their fifteen seconds of fame. They want to leave a lasting impression and have people remember them. However, they don't realize that all they're doing is making themselves look stupid (I doubt if this is how they act in real life), kind of like when there's a news report and there's always someone behind the reporter jumping around and waving or holding up a sign that says "Look mom, I'm on t.v." In other words, they just want attention, it's their one and only chance to have anyone watch them and get noticed. However I think the best way to grab attention on those shows is just to do real well on them, and the point of those shows is to win, not entertain. Look at Ken Jennings, the guy who won millions of dollars from Jeopardy, he didn't do anything to try to grab the audience's attention, he just did extrememly well on the show and won a lot of money.

For our entertainment. Deal or No Deal is the best example. Contestants initially submit a tape of themselves & their 3 friends....then if selected have to undergo a "screen test" BEFORE being "called" down to play. The producers of the shows want friendly people with entertaining, wide open personalties and/or quirks who obviously don't embarass easily AND keep folks like you watching for years.

They submit tapes and do idiotic things to attract attention. Then when they're selected, they're told to act foolishly. Good for ratings the producers think. Personally, I need to turn the channel.

Entertainment value. That's why the producers of the program chooses them over the "normal" folk who apply to go on. After all that's why you laugh at them and keep watching, I think you answered your own question............

Have you ever thought that those people might act like fools also in reality?
