The whole rating thing doesnt even work, kids still watch the movies they want and they still watch people smoking out in the streets, so i dont think they should be banned

Well, considering movies are an art form and thereby protected by this little thing we call the first admendment of the constitution, then no, cigerettes cannot be banned from movies, regardless of the PG 13 rating. Also, that is why there is a PG - 13 rating, the things shown and said and alluded to in the movie are geared for audiences above the age of 13. If you have a child under that age than it is your porogative to be a better informed parent and know what your child is watching. If cigarette smoking should be listed on the ratings than a movie with it in there might be bumped to a higher rating or movies without smoking may be considered G rated. But, needless to say, the movie industry cannot be regulated for the same simple reasons a flag can be burned (unfortunately) in the united states - Freedom of Speech, plain and simple.

I think this anti smoking thing has gone a little too far. People smoke and that should be potrayed in movies. You can take the opportunity to talk to your kids about it.

I've never been to a theater where people could smoke inside before. And I never want to! I'm allergic to cigarette smoke. I hate it.
