I really appreciate any help I have included the prob and th work i've done so far (anything with ^followed by a number means it's an exponent):

(-1/5)^3 + {((-1/3)^2 + 1/12(1/6 - (-1/4)^3)}

So far I've got:
-1/125 + {-1/9 + 1/12 (1/6 - (-1/64)}
-1/125 + {-1/9 + 1/72 + 1/768)

HELP!

-1/125 + {-1/9 + 1/12 (1/6 +1/64)}

-1/125 + {-1/9 + 1/12 (35/192)}

-1/125 + {-1/9 + 35/2304}

you have to do the 1/6 - (-1/64) before you multiply by 1/12.
-1/125+{+1/9 +1/12(1/192)}
Being the (-1/3)^2 = +1/9 . A neg times a neg becomes a pos.
I don't have a calculator so I don't want to do anything else.

If the negative sign is inside the parentheses as indicated, the 1/9 should be positive, as the multiplying of two negatives will cancel each them out.

With 1/12(1/6 + 1/64), the 1/6 + 1/64 must be added first, according to your order of operations. Once those are added you can multiply by the 1/12.

Hopefully that will give you enough to get back on track! :)

OK, you're fine to this point . . .
The LCD for 9th, 12th, and 768ths is 2304ths so we now have
-1/125 + (-256/2304 + 32/2304 + 3/2304) or
-1/125 - 221/2304 = -2304/288000 - 27625/288000 = -29929/288000.

Whew!
